In alliance with Merkepaisa, training for work begins in commune 8 of Medellín

A group of eleven people will receive free training to work as butchers at the points of sale of the well-known chain stores.

On September 6, 2021, the training of eleven inhabitants of Villa Hermosa began, this in order to carry out work as butchers in the Merkepaisa points of sale. The initiative is part of the corporate social responsibility intentions of the well-known chain stores and seeks to create new jobs.

Thanks to the strategic alliance between Merkepaisa and the Las Golondrinas Foundation, the project has initially brought together the inhabitants of one of the historically most vulnerable communities in the city, which has undergone a broad process of social, economic and architectural transformation through the various programs that the Foundation has run throughout its 40 years.

"This project is very pertinent, as it responds to the real needs of the community that we have impacted for so long," says Gabriela Santos, executive director of the Las Golondrinas Foundation. "Thus, the strategic alliance with Merkepaisa contributes to job training, family economies and community development, three fundamental components in the Golondrinas work," she concludes.
