Fundación las Golondrinas

The Foundation Las Golondrinas is a NGO that has worked for 28 years with displaced and marginalized population of the neighborhoods Llanaditas, Golondrinas, Caicedo and 8 de Marzo and the settlements: La Torre, El Pacífico and Esfuerzos de Paz located in the central-eastern part of Medellin, communes 8 and 9 (click to view location), formed by families living in subhuman conditions because their economy is below the poverty classification, misery being their actual level.

Currently we have 3 locations: Llanaditas (headquarters), Caicedo and Juan Pablo II, which attend more than 2,200 children and young people.

The main purpose of the Foundation Las Golondrinas is to develop a model of social intervention in vulnerable communities in the city of Medellin and near eastern Antioquia through agreements and alliances in order to generate opportunities for education, social transformation and improvement, which includes services of education education services, healthcare, nutrition, social development and income generation, through agreements and alliances in order to generate opportunities for education, social transformation and (social conditions o algo que mejorar,no solo improvement) improvement.

Education is the cornerstone of the social intervention model of the Foundation Las Golondrinas, it adapts and adjusts to each community, developing in each line of intervention for each case, based on the premise that each community is unique and responds differently according to the cultural patterns that are evident in it.

Mission

To accompany communities in conditions of social vulnerability of the city of Medellin and the Near East of Antioquia, offering them services of education as cornerstone of the model of intervention, accompanied by services of nutrition, healthcare and / or generation of income according to the needs of every community, looking for education in values and motivating its members to be active, committed and transforming in their communities.

Vision

By the year 2012 the Foundation Las Golondrinas will be a recognized institution in the local and regional fields because of the implementation of a comprehensive model of social intervention in communities in conditions of social vulnerability, providing opportunities for education, nutrition, healthcare and generation of income by means of strategic alliances and agreements with the government and the private sector to facilitate the reconstruction of the social fabric.

This committee aims to ensure the compliance with the policy of protection of children and adolescents; it is the body responsible inside the foundation Las Golondrinas for case analysis and the adoption of the decisions dealing with cases that present a situation of mistreatment, abuse or exploitation towards a child or adolescent of the student community.
