The Foundation Las Golondrinas works mainly in two districts of the 8th commune: Llanaditas and Caicedo (and the settlements of these sectors) and in the neighborhood John Paul II in the 9th district. To intervene effectively in these communities is necessary to know its history, its issues, its culture and the features of the population.



Caicedo Sector

According to the System of Supervision and Control of Food and Nutrition of the Foundation Las Golondrinas, 100% of the children and adolescents associated with our different programs have some degree of malnutrition.

  • 53% have growth retardation
  • 29% have low weight
  • 28% have emancipation – acute malnutrition.
  • According to the diagnosis of the district municipality of Medellin the 8th commune is ranked as one of the first places in the poverty line.
  • 49% of children working in the streets of the city belong to the 8th commune

Sector Llanaditas

El barrio Llanaditas hace parte de la comuna Nº8 Villa Hermosa; está enclavado en las montañas orientales que enmarcan la ciudad de Medellín, al costado norte del cerro Pan de Azúcar, en territorio que hasta hace poco hacia parte del corregimiento Santa Elena.
